"Centurion"

..hi guys,

watched a historical flim called "centurion" in the week. it's about the 9th legion that may/may not have been wiped out by the Picts.

overall, as good a historical film as ive seen, (but no cgi and a tiny budget) excellent fighting close ups. the film should be out on dvd in late august.

Hey Brown, look down 2 threads. Under the title Centurion (2010) . Heehee, I beat you by a few days.

Yeah its a great movie. Id say it was full of cgi considering all the blood and limbs and faces getting hacked off. I definately have to buy it.

Oh and btw, just today {TWR}Lucullus(i think it was him) told me to tell you that your a great med2 player.

greetings, yes i realised that there was a thread already after putting up my thread. what i meant with regards to the cgi was that the film is a relatively low budget number. apparently there is another film in production, once again about the 9th, called eagle of the ninth.

Yeah I think it was made by the BBC. All the effects are very well done, and the time period is one of my favorite. I cant wait to see the Eagle of the ninth.

You guys let Brown and I know how you like it if you have the time to check it out.

pls do if you haven't, the key here is about being absorbed in the time period, for some reason, i find the whole roman empire thing fascinating, particulalry their military might, and the way people fought back against them.

if you do enjoy the period, you should enjoy the film.

Hell yeah it was awsome! Very well done. I watched it on Icefilms. Im definately going to buy it when it comes out. I own every movie like that you can name.

i watched it it was entertaining.did anyone else think the barbarians were rather germania like?there archers seemed a little powerful and the axes seemd a little pleantiful for picts .i hope they make enough money to make more movies tuetoborg forest would be good.

I didnt like the whole female hunter thing but I thought the rest felt right. The woads were cool. Yeah I'll have to watch it again and see if they were hatchets or battle axes they were useing.

id say roughly 80 percet axemen what year was it i missed it at the begining.

thats a little better then i was kindda thinking it was more round the intial invasion.then no one would have had archers like that.they were still a little high in power for britts dont u think.

Yeah, it would have been cool if it was during Caesars invasion.

Wow, I just saw a preview for The Eagle at the movies tonight and it looks pretty sweet. I comes out in February.

No not Queen Boudicca, she was like 60 years earlier then in the movie. But definitely suppose to be a similar tribe(Iceni). Really a good movie, I cant wait to compare it to The Eagle.

Ill check that out. BBC had another production, id say two or three years ago about the vikingir/norman invasion of Britain, and it was called 1066 Battle for Middle Earth. Its two 1 hour episodes. A solid toke tale. With decent fighting sequences, it focuses less on the grand top down strategy and moreso on the personal and human level of those involved in the conflict. It's a nice balance of drama and carnage though. It's got a bunch of british cameos though, like simon pegg from shaun of the dead, tim aka(jim) from the UK office, and loads more I'm sure.
