I entered that Refuse to Lose tournament, and i have been practicing for it and found out, i am god awful at 1v1. It appears to me that its just whoever can get the better horse crossbowmen will win, since after that i'm forced to charge or just sit and watch my cavalry die one by one. So if you guys could give me a few pointers in one on ones, that would be extremely helpful.

Well a balanced army should have no problems dealing with ha, even my rush armies will have 2 to 3 peasent crossbow units dedicated to counter the threat. I would even add two good light cavs to youre build, they are great for many things even if the enemy doesnt bring ha.

peasent crossbows & light cavs = cheap counter
3 peasent x-bows ($660) cost about the same as 1 mounted xbow with armour upgrade.

*dont send light cavs chaseing them unless the ha are exhausted or they get real close and start shooting youre expensive units.

You can counter an ha force with either your own ha or simply a rush army. The rush army is more difficult if your opponent is skilled at avoiding combat. Most people are not but if someone is you got a problem. So, as Boru said, a balanced army is the way to go. If you lose the ha battle, just utalize your foot archers or xbows. Circling isn't as effective as it is in RTW so getting close the foot archers/xbows isn't smart if you want your ha to live a long happy life. This will keep the ha off of you until you close with your enemy. Then you will be at an archer disadvantage (taking for granted he has foot archers) so rush him quick... Cool
